Dear Fellow Choristers and Choral Enthusiasts,
Since the Adesso Choral Society announced its hiatus in in the fall of 2008,
many people have asked when we will start rehearsing again and expressed
interest in auditioning for the group.
A change of schedule and an upcoming performance venue have got me to consider
resuming a regular rehearsal schedule.
As some of you may know, October is Arts and Humanities Month. The Town of
Ridgefield
will celebrate this throughout the month, but particularly on October 3, when
the Ridgefield Arts Council will host a Ridgefield Cultural Festival in
Ballard
Park
. Arts organizations will offer information about their works in booths
set up in
Ballard
Park
. Performance groups will have the opportunity to perform on the CHIRP
stage in twenty minute time slots.
This event on October 3 would be a great opportunity for the Adesso Choral
Society to re-enter the cultural life of
Ridgefield
and of
Fairfield
County
.
The word 'adesso' means 'now' in Italian; Adesso is committed to
performing music by living composers. In the spring of 2008 Adesso issued
a call for scores and received more than seventy scores from around the country.
Performing music by living composers is not only exhilarating, but it is
vital to the health of serious music today. Adesso also performs 'classic'
works from the twentieth century, such works by Randall Thompson and Alberto
Ginastera, lesser known works by such familiar composers as Mozart, J.S.
Bach and Horatio Parker, and folk songs from around the world newly arranged by
living composers. Adesso has performed works by
Fairfield
County
composers Allen Brings, Evelyn Avoglia and myself.
In order to prepare in time for the October 3 Cultural Festival, we will resume
rehearsals on Wednesday, Aug. 26. This allows six rehearsals
before the performance.
To accommodate more people, rehearsals will now be held on Wednesdays,
instead of Tuesdays, from 7:30 - 9:30.
Until another available space is found, rehearsals will be held at my home in my
ample music room.
I live at
115 Sleepy Hollow Rd.

At this time, we will remain a women's chorus. Sorry, fellas.
A minimum of twelve committed choristers is needed to resume a regular rehearsal
schedule.
Please respond to this email to let me know if you are interested, and spread
the word to other interested choristers.
Best regards,
Meg
