Morty Bachar

Morty Bachar

Morty Bachar is the founder of Lakeside Pottery School, ceramic school and studio in Stamford, Connecticut. He spends most of his time teaching and sharing his knowledge of ceramics with his students and other ceramic artists using the studio.

Morty's transition from the corporate world to his passion six years ago enabled him to accomplish his dreams in the creative world.   His work, influenced by his birthplace, Israel, focuses on large vessels with vivid colors and the organic look created by his unique surface texture techniques.

In addition to being a wonderful teach facility, Lakeside Pottery School is also an excellent resource for Pottery and Ceramic supplies.  Including used pottery wheels and kilns'.

Since 1996 I have taught Ceramics classes for adults at Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan. CT.  Teaching has brought me new experiences.  I learn a lot from my students.   They come to clay with many expectations; but clay is a very humbling medium.   It teaches you patience.   It's a lot like life.   My feeling is that wheel throwing is a learned skill and with lots of practice anyone can learn the basics.   It's after you accomplish that you can use your creativity and expand your vocabulary.   It took me many years to do that.   My students are much better at it than I was as a student.   It amazes me how fast they catch on.
