Daniel E. Kelm - Book Arts

Daniel's experience with books began over twenty-five years ago with employment in various production studios where he learned progressively more specialized traditional bookbinding techniques.  Prior to his well chosen career in the book arts Daniel was a professor of chemistry at the University of Minnesota.

In 1983 he opened his own studio, now called The Wide Awake Garage, where he designs and produces artist's books, interpretive fine bindings, and book sculptures.  Daniel founded the Garage Annex School for Book Arts in 1990.

Together with his partner and co-director Greta Sibley the Garage Annex School for Book Arts has become known for its innovative workshops with the use of unusual materials and techniques.  If you have ever been interested in exploring three dimensional art, this is the place to go.  You'll want to plan to spend some time there.
