BREAD for POEMS
Celebrate
Poetry Month! Read a Poem, Get a Loaf
Chabaso Bakery continues its tradition of
giving a free loaf of artisan bread to anyone who visits Atticus
Bookstore Café or Chabaso outlet store Fridays
in April and reads a poem aloud. Consult a poetry book (we'll
have some on hand), read a favorite poem or recite one from memory.
Last year, Chabaso and Atticus gave out almost 500 loaves to poetry
lovers.
"Poetry, like bread, is for everyone," wrote poet Roque
Dalton.

Coleman
Barks Reading at Yale University Theatre this SUNDAY
WITH
PAUL WINTER AND GLEN VELEZ SUNDAY
- APRIL 27th - 4:00 pm
Coleman Barks, the most famous translator of the poetry of Rumi, will be
reading Rumi's poems to musical accompaniment by Grammy-winners Paul
Winter and Glen Velez. The performance, at Yale University Theatre, also
includes short readings by two Poet Laureates, Lisa Starr and Marjory
Wentworth.
This is a benefit performance for Connecticut Food Bank, which makes
tickets a little expensive for students. So we're offering a discounted
rate. ($18 rather than $25).
